DIVERSION NON-RESIDENTIAL WITHDRAWAL SERVICE
WITHDRAWAL NURSE

Swan Hill District Health is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Registered Nurse to provide direct care for clients requiring access to Drug withdrawal.

The Withdrawal Service is supported by the National Illicit Drug Diversion Initiative and aims to:
- Provide early incentive for addressing drug use problems
- Divert illicit drug users into drug education, assessment and treatment
- Reduce the number of court appearances for use or possession of small quantities of illicit drugs
- Provide equitable access for Indigenous clients to assessment and treatment.

The successful applicant will be required to have a comprehensive understanding of the management of substance use including pharmocotherapy options, experience in drug assessment and withdrawal management and the ability to recognize and understand cultural diversity.

The successful applicant will also require excellent communication and case management skills to enable working with clients and a range of stakeholders; and the ability to provide a service that is also culturally sensitive for the Indigenous and cultural groups in the community.
