Walking Groups

Heart Foundation walking is the largest network of free community based walking groups in Australia. Walking groups encourage individuals to increase physical activity, as well as being a great way to have fun!

Locally we have 3 existing Heart Foundation Walking groups established:

The Treasures Walking Group-the group walks on Sunday mornings at 9am, meeting at the Coles car-park (10am once daylight saving starts).
The Parents with Prams Walking Group-Tuesdays at 11am, meet at Riverside Park steps.
WALK Walking Group-Mondays at 5.30pm, meet in front of Health Promotion, 60 McCrae St.

Walkers receive regular newsletters which include health information, incentives and encouragement to keep walking.

There are many benefits of physical activity including increased fitness, management of weight, blood pressure and cholesterol, prevent and control diabetes, improve energy levels and over all enjoyment in life. Heart foundation walking encourages physical activity to reduce the risk of heart disease. Heart disease affects both men and women.

You can tell us about your walking needs by completing the ‘Walking in Swan Hill Survey’ by clicking here or pick up a copy of the survey at either the Swan Hill Information Centre (corner of McCrae & Curlewis Streets) or at Health Promotion (60 McCrae Street), in Swan Hill.
