Rural Outreach Program

Rural Outreach Program

The Rural Outreach Program is a Commonwealth funded program providing Health Promotion services to small rural towns of Piangil, Koraleigh, Nyah, Nyah West, Berriwillock, Culgoa, Woorinen, Ultima and Lake Boga. Clinical services are also provided including Podiatry and Speech Pathology at Moulamein and Tooleybuc, and Dietetics at Tooleybuc.

The program was originally initiated by the Nyah Action Group who felt there was a need for increased health services in rural areas.  Following this, an extensive process was undertaken and involved the engagement of consultants for a health needs assessment of the included communities.  This report assisted Swan Hill District Health to develop a plan to address the needs of the communities surveyed and apply for further funding under the Regional Health Services Program.

The program employs a program manager, and a Community Health Nurse, Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist, Podiatrist and Speech Pathologist in various capacities to provide health promotion and clinical services.
