The 18th annual Swan Hill District Health Golf and Bowls Day held at the Murray Downs Golf and Country Club on Thursday 13th February raised approximately $12,000. A total of 51 people registered for bowls and 84 for golf.
Funds raised on the day will support the purchase of two replacement treatment chairs for the Cancer Care Centre which will provide both the comfort and safety required.
The cost of each chair is approximately $10,000.
It is anticipated that the re-introduction of a visiting specialist cancer care team and the increased prevalence of cancer in the ageing community will result in more people choosing to be treated locally without the added stress of travelling for care.
Over the past 18 years this fundraising day has raised approximately $225,000, which has enabled the purchase of much needed medical equipment.
The major sponsors for the event included: ANZ Bank, Aspire Jewellery, Bendigo Radiology, Blue Sky, EML, Mildura Health Fund, Murray Downs Golf and Country Club, Murray Valley Technology Centre, Origin Energy, Swan Hill Wholesalers, TASCO Petroleum, Thomas Day Catering, Tripodi and Taverna Fruiters.
The winner of the BBQ raffle was Rob Merrett.
Swan Hill District Health would like to thank all their sponsors, volunteers and Murray Downs Golf and Country Club for making this day once again a successful fundraising event.
