NSW has temporarily shut its border with Victoria. Anyone seeking to enter NSW may apply for a NSW border entry permit. We understand as a border community this closure will have an impact on our ability to conduct our daily lives, however there are provisions in place to allow NSW residents to continue to access medical care in Victorian health services such as ours.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any queries or concerns about accessing our services and we will do our best to assist you. All specific queries regarding restrictions and permits do however need to be directed to the relevant NSW authority.
You do not need a permit when accessing emergency medical care. As per NSW Government website “If it’s a medical emergency, seek treatment immediately at your closest emergency department.”
Similarly, you do not need a permit if you are avoiding injury or harm or are in an emergency such as family or domestic violence.
Border Zone – The border zone is an area along the NSW-Victorian border, which has special arrangements in place for residents needing to cross the border into NSW.
Border Region – The border region has been established to allow Critical Services Workers with a critical services worker permit, to travel in an area larger than the border zone. The permit for a Critical Service Worker is not the same as the permit a resident living in the border zone requires.
Remote Community – In addition to the reasons listed for those living in a Border Zone, an exemption has been granted which allows border residents in Remote Communities to travel across the NSW-Victorian border to travel into Victoria or NSW for essential goods and services.
