Our Services

Our Midwives provide education and care for women and families in all aspects of birthing and parenting.

Services offered include:

  • Advice and care during your pregnancy. You can phone or come and speak to us about your needs.
  • Midwife Clinics- various locations
  • Early to mid-pregnancy assessment service (EMPAS)- see below for more details
  • Support and assistance during labour and birthing
  • Liaison with your obstetric team
  • Parenting advice such as settling the newborn, nappy changing, bathing and breastfeeding.
  • Home visit(s) after discharge (domiciliary) as required
  • 24 hour consult service up to 6 weeks postnatal
  • Referral service to other agencies
  • Newborn hearing screening
  • Childbirth education
  • Antenatal, birthing and early parenting support
  • Providing collaborative antenatal care in the lead up to birthing elsewhere (if necessary)

The Midwifery Unit contains two birth rooms and four postnatal beds, with all single rooms. All rooms have ensuite facilities with televisions provided.

Partners can stay if there is a bed available (beds will be prioritised to women and newborn babies at all times).

Early to mid-pregnancy assessment service (EMPAS)

This clinic streamline’s care for women experiencing pregnancy complications or loss before 20 weeks gestation. Run by our dedicated obstetric team and midwife Beth Guerin, the EMPAS aims to provide coordinated follow up and supportive care during these challenging experiences. Patients can be referred to the EMPAS clinic either via referral in the Emergency Department, GP or self referral. PLEASE NOTE- IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING VAGINAL BLEEDING (SOAKING 2 PADS PER HOUR) PLEASE ATTEND THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT.
